Class Description
How can we use our life experiences to awaken our creative voice and inspire our own unique poetry? In the way that our lives are vessels for experience, poetry is a vehicle for exploration, expression, connection, and emotion. In this three-hour workshop, we’ll read three poems and look at a number of craft elements working particularly well in each. We’ll use those craft tools along with generative writing prompts to draft into new poems of our own. You'll have the chance to share the poems you write in class for on-the-spot feedback from the instructor and your peers. By the end of this workshop, you will have generated drafts of three new poems, and gained fresh insights into how to use poetry craft tools to illuminate your unique consciousness on the page. Poets of all levels are welcome.
