Class Description
Find your inner poetry editor! This online class is meant for poets who have written a few drafts of poems and want a concrete set of tools with which to polish them. You’ll revise individual poems, getting them ready for journal publication, but also discuss those poems as one body of work— the start of a book! In this class, you’ll receive a weekly craft lesson focusing on an aspect of poetry, a weekly exercise to sharpen your revision skills, discussion of how your poems relate to one another and published poems in the current publishing market. There will be group workshopping of your poems and revisions, as well as individualized feedback from the instructor.
By the end of this course, you’ll come away with tools for revising future poems, as well as a concrete plan for revising your current body of work. Although you will be asked to finish coursework for each week-long session by Tuesday evening, there will be no time-specific online meetings or webinars to attend.
