Event Description
This seminar will be co-taught by Nadxieli Nieto and Saraciea J. Fennell. Please visit our Instructors page to read more about Nadxieli and Saraciea.
This publishing seminar for Latinx-identified writers and anyone interested in supporting Latinx writers will be a moderated dialogue between Nadxieli Nieto, Executive Editor at Flatiron Books, and Saraciea J. Fennell, an author, former publicist, and current Board Chair of Latinx in Publishing. Topics addressed will include representation of Latinx authors, the publishing landscape in 2023, what it’s like on the publisher side of the table, tips for how writers can succeed in a competitive landscape, and what books Nieto and Fennell would like to see published. A discussion and Q&A for participating students will follow their conversation.
About Writers' Weekends
Twice this year, GrubStreet will host Writers' Weekends to celebrate and highlight the work of diverse communities within the writing world. Each Writers' Weekend will feature special events — readings, craft sessions, keynotes, parties, and more — to explore how writing intersects with identity, culture, and society. Our inaugural Latinx Writers' Weekend is taking place June 2-4, and we're thrilled to have a weekend of programming open to the whole community that amplifies and celebrates the voices of Latinx writers.
