Classes
Multi-Week Workshops Find a Multi-Week Class
Multi-week workshops are offered in every genre, and typically meet once a week for three hours, for anywhere from four to ten weeks. They meet either over Zoom or in-person at our Center for Creative Writing in Boston. Workshops range from generative classes with light feedback, to advanced classes with a focus on revision and in-depth written feedback.
Short Classes Find a Short Class
Short classes meet one time, for three or six hours, usually on weekend days. They take place on Zoom an in-person at our Center for Creative Writing in Boston. We offer several short classes every week, and you’ll find short classes in every genre, on every topic.
Online Experience
Don’t live in Boston? Prefer to learn from the comfort of your couch in PJs? We’re not here to judge. Wherever you are, our online courses bring the GrubStreet classroom experience to you.
Teen Program
Join GrubStreet’s Young Adult Writers Program (YAWP), where high school students from all over the greater Boston area gather to craft their stories, share their ideas, and cheer each other on! YAWP offers three types of programs: free Saturday writing sessions, Teen Writing Classes (during winter, spring, and summer vacations), and a three-week summer Teen Writing Fellowship.
Intensives
Looking for greater continuity and an immersive, intensive exploration of craft as you develop and revise a book-length project or collection of stories? Our advanced programs in the novel, memoir, and the short story are a great place to do just that.
Write Down the Street
GrubStreet’s Community & Neighborhood Programs focus on making the creative writing workshop more accessible to those who face challenges due to cost, language skills, lack of access to transportation, systemic inequities, and other barriers.
