About Matthew

Matthew Frederick is a nonfiction literary scout, book consultant, author, and architect. His first book, 101 Things I Learned in Architecture School (MIT Press, 2007), was a LA Times and Boston Globe bestseller. It remains, ten years after its release, the intermittent #1 bestseller in architecture at Amazon.com. Mr. Frederick is also the creator, editor, and illustrator of the 101 Things I Learned book series, which has been translated into twenty-five languages. The next two books in the series, 101 Things I Learned in Advertising School and 101 Things I Learned in Urban Design School, will be released in April 2018 by Penguin Random House. Matthew teaches classes in memoir and other nonfiction genres at Grub Street and at writers conferences throughout the United States.
