Christopher Hennessy is the author of three books, including his debut book of poems, Love-In-Idleness, from Brooklyn Arts Press (2011), which was a finalist for the Thom Gunn Award. His work has appeared in seven anthologies, including anthologies of poetry on topics as different as superheroes and divas. His other books are Our Deep Gossip: Conversations with Gay Writers on Poetry and Desire, University of Wisconsin Press (2013), and Outside the Lines: Talking with Contemporary Gay Poets, from University of Michigan Press (2005). Most recently, he was the Fred Ewing Case & Lola Austin Case Writer-in-Residence at Western Illinois University. He has taught creative writing previously at Grub Street and also at Emerson College and the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. He earned an MFA from Emerson College and currently is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. He was included in Ploughshares' special "Emerging Writers" edition, and his poetry, interviews, and book reviews have appeared in American Poetry Review, Verse, Cimarron Review, The Writer's Chronicle, The Bloomsbury Review, Court Green, OCHO, Crab Orchard Review, Natural Bridge, Wisconsin Review, Brooklyn Review, Memorious, and elsewhere. At this year's Massachusetts Poetry Festival he presented a workshop and chaired a panel on poetry and desire, among his several conference appearances. Poets who have worked with him on a consultant basis have gone on to win fellowships and publish first books.
