About Javed

Javed Rezayee is an EMMY-winning story producer for National Geographic's documentary film "RETROGRADE." His film "We Are Ayenda" won the 2024 Cannes Grand PRIX. Javed is memoirist, novelist, and screenwriter. His writings have appeared in The New York Times, The Hill, and Open Society Foundations. He’s authored an introduction to The Forbidden Reel (Daylight 2014) and has published several short stories. Javed's upcoming memoir, Dreams and Dragons, is about his growing up in the bubble of the American compound in Kabul, but gets bitten by social and political dragons when he starts to dream. Javed graduated from Tufts University in 2010, as an adult student, where he now teaches a featured course on the art of live storytelling: The Power of Story. Javed ran the Boston Marathon in 2007 to say thank-you to the journalist NED COLT who helped him earn his college scholarship. He also loves to cook and paint.
