Class Description
Sea que comes para vivir o vives para comer, la comida, la cocina, y el acto de comer son partes esenciales de la vida cotidiana. En este taller, escribiremos partiendo de nuestras recolecciones y experiencias para recordar las aromas, texturas, sabores, sentimientos, ritos y tradiciones alrededor de la comida. A partir de ejercicios y discusiones, exploramos la comida como una via poderosa para escribir acerca de la familia, el hambre, la cultura, y mucho más. Son bienvenidos a este taller escritores trabajando en inglés o español. El taller es abierto a la participación de todos sin importar su nivel de experiencia o habilidades de escritura.
La clase tomará lugar en el sucursal Egleston Square de la Biblioteca Pública de Boston, 2044 Columbus Ave, Roxbury, MA 02119.

Whether you eat to live or live to eat, food, eating, and cooking are at the heart of daily life. In this workshop, we will tap into memories and experiences to recall smells, textures, tastes, feelings, rituals, and traditions around food. Through exercises and discussions, we'll explore food as a powerful pathway to writing about family, hunger, culture, and more. This workshop welcomes writers who prefer either English or Spanish and is open to anyone with any level of writing experience or skill.
Families welcome. Coffee and snacks provided. Teens are welcome to attend with an older relative. We will provide simple activities to keep young children occupied.
This FREE class takes place at the Boston Public Library's Egleston Square branch, 2044 Columbus Ave, Roxbury, MA 02119.

Thanks to the excellent literary citizenship of our donors, scholarships are available for all GrubStreet classes. To apply, click the gray "APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIP" button. In order to be considered for a scholarship, you must complete your application at least one week before the start date of a class. Please await our scholarship committee's decision before registering for the class. We cannot hold spots in classes, so the sooner you apply, the better. Scholarships cannot be applied retroactively.
