Class Description

You've done the hard work, sculpting draft after draft of a literary story or essay so that it's ready for the reading public. Congratulations! But what now? With over 600 literary magazines in print and hundreds more online, how can you find the journal that's a perfect match for your work? In this class, instructor Jenn Scheck-Kahn, founder of Journal of the Month (www.journalofthemonth.com) and Tell It Slant (www.tellitslant.com), will introduce you to the world of literary magazines, demystify their operations and goals, help you develop practical strategies for getting your work into them, and send you home with invaluable submissions resources. Bring a polished story or essay to class (no more than 20 pages), and within two weeks, Jenn will recommend four literary magazines that publish like-minded prose.

Scholarships Format/Location

Thanks to the excellent literary citizenship of our donors, scholarships are available for all GrubStreet classes. To apply, click the gray "APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIP" button. In order to be considered for a scholarship, you must complete your application at least one week before the start date of a class. Please await our scholarship committee's decision before registering for the class. We cannot hold spots in classes, so the sooner you apply, the better. Scholarships cannot be applied retroactively.
