Class Description: Teen writers, want to practice performing your work in a comfy, safe environment? Want to get some tips from experienced performers of all ages? Want to get some practice time before joining the Boston Public Library Teen Open Mic on June 17th? No matter where you want to perform, these practice sessions are an open, relaxed space to practice stepping up to the mic. We might be virtual this year but our open mic will go on! Celebrate your creative work with us! Beginners and experienced writers/performers welcome!
This is the second part of a three-part series—two practice sessions on June 3rd, June 10th, and an open mic on June 17th from 4:00 to 5:30 pm. Teens can participate in one, two, or all three events! And any teen can perform during the open mic event, whether or not you’ve attended the practice sessions.
For teens ages 12 to 19. Registrants will receive a Zoom link via email prior to the session start time. Presented in collaboration with the Roxbury, Mattapan, and Egleston Branches of the Boston Public Library.
Thanks to the excellent literary citizenship of our donors, scholarships are available for all GrubStreet classes. To apply, click the gray "APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIP" button. In order to be considered for a scholarship, you must complete your application at least one week before the start date of a class. Please await our scholarship committee's decision before registering for the class. We cannot hold spots in classes, so the sooner you apply, the better. Scholarships cannot be applied retroactively.

We ask that instructors enable closed captioning and send a transcript of the session after class. You can also enable closed captioning at any time during the meeting. If your instructor forgets to send the transcript, just send ’em an email!
