Class Description
Want to experiment with your writing? Can’t decide between three different endings for one story? Interested in telling a story that lets your readers warp time and space? In this class, we’re playing with non-linear stories that give your readers multiple paths: they choose what decisions your characters make and how the story unfolds! We’ll read a “choose your adventure” story by Megan Milks. Then, through a series of guided exercises, students will start their own “choose your adventure” stories. Students will learn how to plan and plot a story with multiple paths. They will also have the opportunity to trouble-shoot and test their paths with each other.
Students will leave with an outline for a fiction story with multiple endings, a draft of the beginning of a story, new tools for pushing the limits within fiction writing, and a sense of community with other adventurous young writers. Class will also end with an open mic where students from all sessions are invited to share and listen to each other's work! For writers of all experience levels, age 13 - 18 ONLY.
