Class Description
This is not your average poetry class. Slam poetry uniquely combines elements of drama, poetry, oral storytelling, and hip hop spoken word to create one of the most engaging new forms of self-expression. Taught by Regie Gibson, winner of the 1998 National Slam Competition, this workshop will show you how to breathe new life into your writing and how to express yourself succinctly, passionately and with confidence. This class will be especially helpful for those who want to audition for Grub Street's teen slam team during next month's auditions taking place after February's YAWP session. Thanks to the excellent literary citizenship of our donors, scholarships are available for all GrubStreet classes. To apply, click the gray "APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIP" button. In order to be considered for a scholarship, you must complete your application at least one week before the start date of a class. Please await our scholarship committee's decision before registering for the class. We cannot hold spots in classes, so the sooner you apply, the better. Scholarships cannot be applied retroactively.
