Class Description
What would utopia look like for you? How can the struggles of today’s experience shape this alternate reality? In this generative workshop, we'll be diving into the vision and senses of the worlds we not only wish we could escape to, but ones we can live and thrive in some day. We will be reading from FIYAH Lit Mag, Skew Magazine, The Bewitching Bonds Anthology and some of my own works to look at the power of poetry to create new worlds.
Students will leave with a new outlook on world building, the draft or start of a new poem, and literary mags to check out and submit your own writing to. Class will also end with an open mic where students from all sessions are invited to share and listen to each other's work! For writers of all experience levels, age 13 - 18 ONLY.
