Class Description
In our first meeting, we’ll introduce ourselves, set goals and get a feel for everyone’s projects. The agenda for the remaining sessions will be shaped around the group’s needs. As point person, the instructor will lead discussions and be ready with helpful resources – insights about the process of writing personal nonfiction, relevant readings, craft book recommendations, along with advice for developing a project and sticking with it. Depending on the group’s interests, there may be opportunities for in-class writing and feedback, such as timed writing prompts or “lightning” workshops where short excerpts are read and discussed on the spot. More than anything, the emphasis will be on lively conversation and solidarity. The weekly sessions will be a chance to connect with fellow writers, talk shop in a fun but consistent way, and give your writing life a boost.
Thanks to the excellent literary citizenship of our donors, scholarships are available for all GrubStreet classes. To apply, click the gray "APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIP" button. In order to be considered for a scholarship, you must complete your application at least one week before the start date of a class. Please await our scholarship committee's decision before registering for the class. We cannot hold spots in classes, so the sooner you apply, the better. Scholarships cannot be applied retroactively.
