GrubStreet is thrilled to launch the podcast studio at our Center for Creative Writing! We hope our community members can expand their storytelling craft and see what they can produce with this new medium. As part of our launch, we will be providing studio orientations and offering 1-2 hour-long solo recording sessions. Please first read the information about our studio below — directions to apply for studio time are at the end!
Orientation Sessions
You must attend one of our free podcast orientation sessions prior to making a studio reservation to see a demo on how to get set up with our equipment and check out our space. These are quick 30 minute sessions and are designed to get you acclimated to the space with dedicated operations staff support. Please email [email protected] to discuss scheduling options if you are interested in registering. We recommend bringing any devices you intend to use for recordings (ie. personal computer, MicroSD card, extra microphone, etc.).
*If you are an experienced user of Rodecaster Pro and traditional podcast studio equipment, you may be able to bypass the orientation and book recording time.
Recording Assistance and Post Production
GrubStreet does not offer audio technicians, dedicated podcast support staff, or post-recording services. We do have general Operations staff on site who are happy to help get your personal devices connected to the board and provide resources for using our equipment. We can also direct you to some free and paid resources for post-production and editing services. Our best recommendation is to come to the studio with as much prep work done in advance, as studio time is best spent recording audio.
The Studio
Our studio comfortably seats two people and is ADA accessible. Guests are not required to attend the Podcast Studio Orientations as long as the host is the only one working with our Rodecaster Pro soundboard. We have also worked to limit any external noise during recording with fabric acoustic paneling and acoustic seal tape.

Studio Time Rates
We are committed to making our new studio accessible to all in our community who are interested in experimenting and producing their stories with our recording tools.
Our studio orientations are free of cost. If after the orientation you are interested in booking recording time, our flexible pricing model includes a true cost of service hourly rate of $60 as well as an hourly “pay what you can” option. You will select the amount you are able to pay on the rental studio application form. The amount you indicate will not impact whether your request for the space is approved. Once approved, all payments will be submitted on our Make A Payment website page. The description of the event should list “Podcast Studio” along with the date and time of your approved reservation.
