Event Description:

If you have new work in progress or are just looking for a space to meet other young creatives and learn about our programs, we invite you to our Teen Open Mic, Open House at our Boston Center for Creative Writing. We're honored to host feature poets, TWF 23' alumni, Hannah LeBlanc, and Boston Youth Poet Laureate, Parker-Vincent Alva! Sign-up to read when you arrive, event opens at 6 pm and starts around 6:30 pm. Each reader will be given 3-5 minutes on the mic.

This is a teen-centered event. Open Mic open to all writers under 21 yo. Food will be provided, and all readers will be entered in a raffle to win free books, classes and YAWP swag!

This event is part of the City of Boston's Mayor's Youth Summit. Check out all the free events happening for teens across the city the week of February 18-24!

Space Accessibility:

Our space is ADA accessible with automatic door openers, ADA compliant restrooms, desk and table spacing, braille signage, and elevator. Our classrooms can be equipped with ALS for hard of hearing individuals. We cannot guarantee a scent-free environment. Covid-19 Updates:

GrubStreet is a mask-friendly space. When our community Covid risk level is low or medium, masks are optional. We are currently at a medium community risk level, so this offering is: mask optional. If our community Covid-19 risk level becomes high, we will follow the CDC recommendations and require masks within our space. Learn more about our Covid-19 Policy here.

Registration Instructions:

  • Register for the event by clicking the red "ADD TO CART" button and following the checkout instructions through our website. If you do not have an account, you will be able to make one easily. When making the account, please use your preferred name.

  • If you are registering on behalf of a student, add their email in the “For a Friend or Child?” field on the right-hand side of the screen at check out. This will send them a direct link and reminder to create their own profile with GrubStreet.

Format/Location

This class will take place in-person at our Center for Creative Writing in Boston's Seaport neighborhood.


Covid-19 Update:

GrubStreet's space will be mask-optional when Boston's Covid-19 Community Level is low or medium. When the Covid-19 Community Level is high, our space will require masks. Please check GrubStreet's Covid-19 page for the latest info on masking and Community Levels before visiting in person.
