Come check us out!
GrubStreet offers a variety of free sessions and events each year, which welcome writers at every level and from all backgrounds. Free sessions are a great way to get familiar with our classes and our community, and to connect with other writers. Whether you want to join us for wine and cheese and guided writing at our Center for Creative Writing in Boston, or join us on Zoom for a lunchtime writing session, we have ample opportunities to work on your writing at Grub at no cost to you.
Open Houses
Learn about GrubStreet at one of our Open House and Info Sessions, or learn more about some of our year-long programs by attending the annual Open House for the program you’re interested in.
Grubby Desk Lunch
Say goodbye to the sad desk lunch–and hello to the Grubby Desk Lunch! Join us for a midday, 45-minute guided writing session led by a GrubStreet instructor to get your creative juices flowing while connecting with other writers. We hold Grubby Desk Lunch sessions once a month on Wednesdays at 12:15pm (EST), over Zoom.
Friday Night Writes
Close out the week at one of our fun, casual Friday evening writing sessions led by a GrubStreet instructor. You’ll respond to prompts, share work with others, and leave with some new writing and new connections. Friday Night Writes sessions are held once a month, from 5:30pm-6:30pm (EST), over Zoom.
Seaport Free Writes
Come visit our beautiful Center for Creative Writing in Boston’s Seaport neighborhood, either on your lunch hour or on a Friday evening, for a free writing session led by a GrubStreet instructor. Public health permitting, the Friday evening version of this also includes wine, cheese, and other delectables. Seaport Free Writes are held a couple times a month and tend to fill up–please make sure to register ahead of time!
More Free Classes
Each year, we offer an evolving selection of free programming, both in-person and over Zoom. The best way to learn about these programs is by subscribing to our newsletter and searching through our current offerings on our Find a Class page.
